As part of the Seongbuk Cultural Foundation’s urban archiving project Seongbuk Memory Loop: Home, the book Reading Jeongneung, Diaries produced  by TechCapsule, explores the urban history of Jeongneung and its influence on local culture and the arts. A City reflects the lives of its residents while simultaneously shaping them. Artists have captured Jeongneung’s unique landscapes and everyday narratives in their works, uncovering new layers of meaning. For poet Shin Kyung-rim, the alleys of Jeongneung served as a space to reflect on his mother’s life; sculptor Choi Man-rin’s studio became an everyday art space. Painter Park Go-seok enjoyed Jeongneung’s natural surroundings, while expressing the emotional complexity of a solitary, peripheral life through writing and painting. The works and records of these artists offer new perspectives on the history of Jeongneung, serving as keys to interpreting the city. To document and interpret Jeongneung goes beyond mere preservation; it is a gesture of re-illuminating diverse lives and rewriting the urban context, a promise to remember what gives our lives meaning.
