하우스오브레퓨즈의 공간은 공사가 중단된 이후의 시간을 그대로 간직하고 있을 뿐 아니라 그동안의 세월을 함께 공생해 온 존재들을 그대로 존중한다. 건축가 김정임(서로아키텍츠)은 중단된 시점의 구조체, 그 구조체에 뿌리를 내린 생명체, 그리고 다시 발견되기까지의 풍화 과정을 섬세하게 발굴하고, 이 작은 생태계에 매료되었던 의뢰인의 흥분을 차분하게 도닥여준다. 테크캡슐는 하우스오브레퓨즈에 내재되어 있는 시간성에 주목하여 공간에 덧입혀져 왔던 사연의 단서를 태동하는 현재 진행형의 생명력으로 재해석한다.
The space at House of Refuge not only preserves the time that has passed since construction was halted but also respects the beings that have coexisted with it throughout the years. Architect Kim Jung-im of Seoro Architects carefully uncovers the structural elements from the point when work stopped, the living organisms that have taken root there, and the traces of weathering that shaped it until it was rediscovered. She gently tempers the excitement of the client, who is captivated by this small ecosystem. TechCapsule, focusing on the layered temporality embedded within House of Refuge, reinterprets the space’s stories and histories as a vibrant, evolving form of life still in progress.
