<A Study of Civic Spaces through Digital Documentation: Gunsan Citizens’ Culture Center>

This project aimed to document the 2023 state of the Gunsan Citizens’ Culture Center* using 3D scanning technology and provide spatial information through visual media and data. The project proceeded through the following three stages:

• Digital Archiving of the Original Structure:
  In the early stages of construction, the original structure of the Citizens’ Culture Center was digitally recorded to secure data resources. These records were later processed into content assets for historical documentation and the creation of various multimedia content.
• Creation of Promotional Video Content:
  Using the digital archives, intuitive and engaging sample promotional videos were produced for permanent exhibitions or marketing materials. During this process, input from architects and architectural experts was incorporated, addressing issues that arose during documentation and offering new interpretations of the Gunsan Citizens’ Culture Center. This helped highlight its significance as a regional cultural asset.
• Proposals for Utilization and Digital Archiving System:
  The project proposed ways to utilize the outcomes and established a direction for continuous monitoring of changes to the Citizens’ Culture Center. A comprehensive digital archiving system was also introduced to support this effort.

*Scope of Documentation
The documentation covered the area surrounding the Gunsan Citizens’ Culture Center, including the site at 790-3 Naun-dong, the adjacent park site at 791-5, Daehak-ro, and the surrounding area within approximately 20 meters. As the project began after the completion of the building’s interior demolition, the focus was on recording changes to the building’s exterior and main structural framework. The documentation period spanned from March 2023 to November 2023, centering on key structural works, slab demolition, and the creation of Hoe-gwan-gil(Culture Center Road).
